Pre-IB Application
The Pre-IB Programme
The Pre-IB course is a one-year preparatory course aimed at Danish and international students who wish to continue in the IB Diploma Programme . The Pre-IB is equivalent to “1.g” in the Danish high school (STX) system. Admission requirements are the Danish 9th or 10th grade leaving exams from “Folkeskolen” or equivalent international exams. In some cases Pre-IB applicants will need to take an admission test in English and/or Mathematics and/or Science.
Please note that we are currently full in the Pre-IB Programme from August 2025. However, if you wish to potentially be placed on a waiting list, please follow the procedure indicated below.
The application form for 2026-2027 will be up and running on this webpage from 1st December 2025.
To apply for the Pre-IB Programme, please fill in the two online application forms below. The deadline for applications will be 1st March 2026 at 12.00. If you wish to apply for a space at the boarding school Stenhus Housing please indicate this on the Pre-IB application form and please fill in the Stenhus Housing application form. Please note that the application deadline if you are also applying for a space at the boarding school will be 1st February 2026.
The 2026 application form will look very similar to the 2025 application form (please see below):
Students applying must upload two application forms: Firstly, students should fill in the online Pre-IB application form (see link above) and attach all the requested documents. Before filling in the application form, please read the Pre-IB programme and subject information on the Pre-IB page of the website in order to be able to make qualified choices in the languages (German, French or Spanish), in the Creative Subjects (Visual Arts or Film), and in Chemistry or Business Economics.
Secondly, students should apply through Optagelse.dk between 15th January 2026 and 1st March 2026. As this online application system is currently in Danish only, Danish IB schools have put together an English guide. We have also provided an (unofficial) translation of the parental consent form that needs to be uploaded if digital signature is not possible with the Danish NemID/MitID. Please find both below.
Please note that the admissions process gives priority to applicants who have indicated in Optagelse.dk that Pre-IB at Stenhus Gymnasium is their first choice/priority school. In accordance with guidelines from the Ministry of Children and Education, applicants will be advised of admissions decisions no later than May 2026.
